Vampires a mathematical impossibility

Posted in Weird

A professor at the University of Florida has proved that vampires couldn't ever have existed.

Vampires supposedly feed on human blood, and once bitten, a person turns into a vampire and starts feasting on the blood of others. If on Jan 1, 1600, the human population was 536,870,911 and the first vampire came into existence that day, then bit one person a month, there would have been two vampires by Feb. 1, 1600. A month later there would have been four, and so on. In just two-and-a-half years the original human population would all have become vampires with nobody left to feed on.

If mortality rates were taken into consideration, the population would disappear much faster. Even an unrealistically high reproduction rate couldn't counteract this effect.

Boy steals bus, takes fares

Posted in Latest news and Weird

A 15-year-old boy stole a bus, drove it along a public transit route, picked up passengers and collected fares, authorities said Sunday.

“I drove that bus better than most of the LYNX drivers could,” the teen, who is too young to drive legally, told a deputy after he was stopped and arrested. “There isn't a scratch on it. I know how to start it, drive it, lower it, raise it.”

Davis had previously been charged for a similar bus theft. Passengers and deputies noted Davis drove the bus at normal speeds and made all the appropriate stops on the route. One passenger, suspicious of the youthful looks of the driver, called 911.

He was charged with grand theft auto and driving without a license. A court hearing was scheduled Tuesday to determine whether he will be charged as an adult.

If you're going to steal a bus, it would make sense to get a load of passengers, then go an a rampage before crashing over a cliff. He must have forgotten to act out the last part.

Opera Urinal Canned

Posted in Funny and Weird

UrinalUrinals shaped like an opera singer's mouth have been removed from an operahouse in Vienna.

The urinals included a set of lips, teeth and a bright red tongue, but a spokeswoman for the Vienna Department of Womens' Affairs said they were “tasteless and offensive”.

The owner of the operahouse, Neuhard Gerhard said he found it odd that the urinals, which had been in use for three years had only become an issue in the run-up to Austria's national elections.

Russians keep dog's head alive with no body

Posted in Weird

To think that in the 1940s, the Russians could keep a dog's head alive without a body by using tubes and a pump makes me wonder what they can do today. You should probably not click the link if you find this sort of thing disturbing.

Mum, or airport security?

Posted in Funny and Weird

Cook County prosecutors say a 29-year-old man traveling with his mother desperately didn't want her to know he'd packed a sexual aid for their trip to Turkey. When asked, he claimed the device, resembling a grenade was a bomb.

He later told officials he'd lied about the item because his mother was nearby and he didn't want her to hear that it was part of a penis pump. Madin Azad Amin faces up to three years, on charges of disorderly conduct in prison if convicted.

Hi-tech slime control

Posted in Technology and Weird

SlimerResearchers at the Southwest Research Institute in San Antonio, Texas, US, are working on a new non-lethal weapon that could quite literally bring them to their knees by sliming them.

The institute has developed a super-slimy substance. When fired at an unruly mob it causes rioters to simply slip over.

Riot police or troops would wear a back pack with three cylinders, one containing compressed air, another filled with plain water and a third containing a supply of very dry, finely ground, polyacrylamide powder. A nozzle, resembling a shower head, would blasts two separate jets, containing the water and the polymer powder, in the general direction of an ugly crowd.

As the two jets mix in the air, after clearing the nozzle, they create a slimy mixture that covers the ground and causes everyone in the area to fall down. Even vehicles should be unable to get a grip on the goo, the patent says. And because the gel is non-toxic, it should cause no permanent harm, besides a few bruised bottoms, that is.

BriefSafeThe “Brief Safe” is an innovative diversion safe that can secure your cash, documents, and other small valuables from inquisitive eyes and thieving hands, both at home and when you're traveling. Items can be hidden right under their noses with these specially-designed briefs which contain a fly-accessed 4″ x 10″ secret compartment with Velcro closure and “special markings” on the lower rear portion. Leave the “Brief Safe” in plain view in your laundry basket or washing machine at home, or in your suitcase in a hotel room

Nice idea, who'd want to rumage through a shitty pair of underpants.

Body Worlds exhibit to open in London

Posted in Latest news and Weird

BodyworksA UK version of the Body Worlds exhibit is to open in the UK. The show proved popular in the US, claiming to show the general public what is normally reserved for doctors and medical professionals. Bodies are preserved using acetone to replace body fluids.

The sources of the bodies have been questioned in the past, and two had to be sent back because bullet holes were found in the back of their head. They were thought to be chinese prisoners who hadn't given their consent. Under chinese law however, it's perfectly legal to use the bodies of executed prisoners for medical research.
